At Alf & Bet, we’re committed to finding ways to make our business more sustainable, and kinder to the planet.

The consequences of climate change affect us all - and we believe it’s important for us to take responsibility, and make improvements where possible to minimise our carbon footprints.

From the start of our small business journey, we’ve taken care to build our company around sustainable practices, processes and partnerships.

And as we continue on this journey, we are also investigating partner projects with Ecologi that enable us to make a more positive impact.

One tree planted with every order

For every order you place on our website, we’ll plant a tree via Ecologi. You don't need to pay anything extra for your print or card, it’s simply our way of giving something back to our planet.

Ecologi is a climate action platform that has a focus on championing small- and medium- enterprises as green revolutionaries.

The platform partnership will see Ecologi plant a tree on our behalf for every order made through our website, helping reforestation efforts in places like Uganda, Tanzania, and Colombia.

It’s a small way to make sure that every paper product sold through our website is helping to make a positive impact on our planet.

Made with care

Here at Alf & Bet, we specialise in creating one-of-a-kind paper products, like our personalised prints and personalised greeting cards. These products are printed in our studio on a made-to-order basis, which helps us keep excess waste to a minimum.

Plus the paper stock we use for our prints and cards is sourced from responsible, FSC-certified forests that are purposely managed to prioritise carbon absorption, with new trees being planted to replace the ones already used.

Our print technology and inks are sourced from Canon, with all used cartridges being returned to Canon for recycling.

Finally, all of our paper products are printed at our studio in East London, which is powered by energy from renewable sources.

And sent with kindness

To ensure our prints and cards arrive safely to their destination, we carefully send each of our products in protective packaging.

This means using compostable cello sleeves for the cards, as well as fully-recyclable cardboard mailing packs and inserts sourced from FSC-managed forests.

Our prints are currently sent out in conventional archive cello bags but we’re working hard to replace these with more eco-conscious packaging going forward.

The recyclable cardboard postage tubes that we use are made from 99% recycled material with plastic end caps that can be recycled via recycling points. All of our packaging is sealed with high quality kraft paper packing tape, which is also fully recyclable in kerbside recycling.

An aim for green growth

As our journey continues, so too does our potential climate impact, and we are keeping sustainability as a core value as we grow our business.

Of course, we’re not perfect - and this is just the beginning. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint even more, and we’re working hard to ensure we are making active choices to create a positive difference going forward.
