Here at Alf & Bet, we love personalised wall art. Creating one-of-a-kind artworks for our customers to give to their loved ones is an absolute joy, so in this journal entry we want to share a little bit about the design process of our custom prints and cards, as well as give you a bit of insight on why they’ve become the heart of our business.
Why we love personalisation
Although we officially began our journey with a range of home decor prints, there’s just something so, well, personal about creating a personalised gift. We experienced this ourselves, when Jon designed some personalised wall art as one-off gifts for friends and family. Seeing firsthand how much people loved to receive something made just for them, and knowing the joy we got from giving them, was a real a-ha moment!
We wanted to give more people the opportunity to experience that same pleasure, and for Alf & Bet to be able to play a part in the process. So, from there we set about creating our first collection of customisable gifts, starting with a complete range of A-Z letter birthday cards, before developing the personalised wall art collections that we now offer.
While creating personalised gifts definitely takes more time in terms of design and processing, there is undoubtedly an increased level of reward and satisfaction that comes from the value we can give to customers.
How our designs work
We currently have four styles of personalised wall art that are designed to highlight the unique features of the gift recipients, and our signature typographic style works really well with this type of customisation.
We’re always looking for ways to build more value into our print designs – so for instance, our new Personalised Name Prints, enable you to add an initial letter, name and a special date, which creates a memorable keepsake for a birthday, Christmas, or a striking gift for parents to celebrate a new arrival!
While on first glance, our designs may look fairly simple, each signature letter and colour variation has taken many hours to create and refine. But the sheer range of colour options is one of the things that people love most about our personalised print ranges.
The beauty of a made-to-order print is that we can give you more flexibility - so we try to offer each of our designs in a choice of standard print sizes, which makes them easy-to-frame at home, and suitable for displaying in any room space.
Your personalised wall art
There are times when you want a gift to say something more about the person you’re buying for - especially if it’s to celebrate a special occasion or moment in their life. This was basically the inspiration behind our what4things Personalised Special Occasion Prints.
Alongside their name and initial letter, each design includes space for you to add four short statements about the person you’re buying for - and what you put is really up to you.
