Brr! There’s a nip in the air, the trees are shedding their golden-hued leaves and creating a crunch carpet: yep, it’s Autumn! We love autumn here at Alf & Bet, and in this journal entry we’re going to share some style tips on how to bring some warm and cosy vibes to your home decor this season.
1. Choose colours of the season
Turn to Autumnal hues like oranges, browns, yellows, and reds to reflect the changing seasons and bring a bit of warmth inside. Whether this comes in the form of a big new, ochre-coloured fluffy blanket to snuggle into on the couch, or a warming new piece of artwork like our Fine Tea Print to go on the wall. And don’t forget to grab a mug of your favorite Earl Grey, Matcha, English Breakfast or even a Hot Toddy (we won’t judge!) to complete the ambience.
2. Create your own warmth
We’re not all lucky enough to have a real fireplace in our homes these days, so we have to find that warm glow in other ways. Candles are a great alternative and can help bring a cosy vibe to your favorite snug or sofa space and the comforting glow of a flickering flame is hard to beat. Choose one with a spicy fragrance like mulled wine or cinnamon to add another layer of warmth to your home environment.
3. Liven up your walls
The changing temperature outside calls for more time spent indoors. Whether you’re cuddling up together on the couch for a movie night or firing up your home with hot tunes and cocktails for a house party, the decorations you choose will go a long way towards creating the right atmosphere. Our colourful cocktail prints are just the thing to liven up your kitchen, home bar, or lounge - choose your favourite alcohol base and be inspired by some of the world’s most popular cocktail drinks.
4. Fill your home with joy
Decorating your space is all about surrounding yourself with the things that bring you joy. When your eyes move around the space, how will the items they see make you feel? For example, Karen and I absolutely love coffee! That’s why our Coffee Print was one of the first designs we made, and the warming, energetic effect of coffee makes it a perfect piece of autumn home decor.
At the end of the day, consider what makes you happy, and bring more of that into your space - whether it’s technically ‘autumnal’ or not.
